Penis Implant Surgery

Penile prosthesis surgery; It is the procedure performed after people with erectile dysfunction in the penis area do not respond to medication. Penile prosthesis is applied to people who have erection or sexual impotence in the penis area. In this way, the relevant region becomes more perfect. This problem seen in the penis area is seen in 52% of men between the ages of 40-70. The problem of non-erection in the penis area can be caused by arteriosclerosis, diabetes, hypertension, nervous system disorder, hormonal disorder, problems in the vascular system, kidney and liver failure and some psychological reasons. In addition, some drugs, smoking, alcohol and substance use, some surgeries, injuries may cause erectile dysfunction. Such problems can be solved by penile prosthesis procedure.

Types of Penis Prosthesis Surgery

If the desired response to the treatment is not obtained after a certain drug treatment process is applied to the person, a penile prosthesis is needed. Before this procedure is performed on men, it should be diagnosed whether they have some health problems. The problem of incomplete erection in the penis also impairs the quality of sexual life of men. Since there is not enough hardening, the entrance to the vagina may not be sufficient. Even if it hardens, it will lose this effect in a short time. The problem of non-erection, which increases with age, will accelerate this process. Since erectile dysfunction is not resolved by medication or vascular surgery, penile prosthesis is needed.

Before performing penile prosthesis surgery, blood tests of the person and penile blood flow tests are performed. Before the penile prosthesis procedure is performed, in cases such as erection problem and pain in the penis area, a test is performed with a special drug injected into the penis area and the result of the test is decided whether it is suitable for the prosthesis. There are 2 types of penile prosthesis procedures depending on the person's condition:

Foldable (Malleable) Penile Prosthesis: In this type of procedure, the area is always kept firm. As the name suggests, it also has the feature of bending and twisting.

Inflatable Penis Prosthesis: It has a mechanism that can be inflated and deflated. They are 2-3 piece devices. It can be said that while the prostheses in the 1st group are constantly stiff, naturalness is avoided. It gives a more natural appearance to the area that allows it to be inflated and lowered among the prostheses in the 2nd group.

Penis Prosthesis Surgery

Preferred surgery; It is a pumped penis prosthesis. This surgery is performed under general or short anesthesia. Regional anesthesia is also if only part of it is numbed. In the penile prosthesis, anesthesia is made from the waist down. It is useful to have a preliminary interview with the doctor before the operation. If the operation is followed by following the doctor's advice to the patient, no problem will occur.

Before coming to the surgery, it is cleaned in detail with various special substances. Injection with antibiotics with high effectiveness. Do not continue these antibiotics for 2 days after surgery. The duration of the operation varies between 45 minutes and 1 hour depending on the type of prosthesis to be placed on the penis.

After the operation, the duration of stay may vary depending on the pain and wound condition of the person. This process can take up to 5 days. The doctor can change in time depending on the condition of the person under control. The surgery should be done in a hygienic environment in the hospital. Penile prosthesis surgery can be done from the age of 20 at the earliest. Accordingly, penile prosthesis can be worn at advanced ages. If the person does not have serious health problems that prevent anesthesia, this is suitable for surgery.

People who have a penile prosthesis allow their quality of life to be better in sexual terms. As long as the penis prosthesis is done correctly and properly, there will be no problems during sexual intercourse.

Postoperative ConsiderationsAlthough

Penile prosthesis surgery is a very easy operation, there are some situations that should be considered after the surgery. As long as the person pays attention to these situations, they do not encounter any problems and have an easy recovery process.

  •  Wounds may occur in the relevant area after the procedure. After leaving the hospital, this area should be kept for 1 week and contact with water should be avoided.
  •  It is necessary to avoid sexual intercourse for at least 4 weeks. This situation should be avoided until the doctor gives permission.
  •  · Doctor's controls should not be neglected.
  •  In order to avoid any problems during sleep, attention should be paid to the sleeping position. It is necessary to lie on the back.
  •  There may be some discomfort in the penis area. Mild pain and itching may occur.
  •   In cases where there are problems such as high-grade fever, prolonged and severe pain, discharge in the penis area, swelling, redness, and inability to urinate, the person performing the procedure should definitely be consulted.

The biggest complication of penile prosthesis surgery is infection. In order to prevent infection, effective antibiotics are used to protect against infection. Antibiotics are continued for at least 3 more days after the operation. The risk of infection is higher in diabetics and patients with problems in the spinal cord area. In order to prevent infection, the patient should take care and follow the doctor's recommendations.

Penile prosthesis differs according to the procedure to be performed. There is also a share of flexibility in the price according to the operating doctor and the hospital. People who do not have serious health problems can have this surgery.
